Looking for a decommissioned battleship? A dysfunctional deer farm? A hole in the ground?
The Primorye Property Fund - charged with selling state-owned property - may have just what you need. The fund has placed 22 buildings on sale in five auctions this fall.
On Nov. 19, two buildings - including a garage - were sold at 29 Timiryazeva Street in Ussurisk, said Nikolai Lobodin, head of the fund's Analytical Department.
Not all state property was regarded as hot. A Nov. 26 auction failed to happen because there were no buyers, although bidders had the chance to walk away with a food warehouse and garage, valued at 2.8 million rubles ($160,254), or a military warehouse valued at 35,000 rubles. According to the law, they will be offered for auction again, and if there is no buyer again within six months, the price will go down.
But for those building their own home battle group, there was a chance to pick up a ship. On Nov. 27 the fund offered Ivan Golubets, a battleship decommissioned for scrap metal. With a starting bid of 148,000 rubles, the 1,140 tons of metal were sold for 533,000 rubles.
Two auctions scheduled for Dec.16 and 23 will offer 21 buildings in Vladivostok, Ussurisk, Fokino, Smolyaninovo, and Khorol. Most of them are warehouses on military bases.
It is difficult to sell military property, said Lobodin, as the buildings are located all over the region, and in order to evaluate their condition, a buyer must look at them. Thus the fund has problems unloading military buildings.
But for those hoping to head to the taiga and raise fur-bearing mammals, there's still a chance. At a Dec. 16 auction, the Amurskoye Company will be offered for sale. Amurskoye used to raise fur animals and deer, and the buyer must agree to keep the business and jobs for at least three years. The starting price is 350,000 rubles.
For the truly enterprising, the fund offers the chance to buy a hole in the ground. Just before it went bankrupt, Vostokinvestbank dug a hole for the basement of its future office on Aleutskaya Street. Now the hole is on sale. The buyer is allowed to fill it with anything he wants.
