Vladivostok police recently found the bodies of the two men who, they believe, shot and wounded the director of the Dalpress publishing company. While partying in an apartment, one of the young men was shot in the mouth and the other received a bullet in the back of his neck. Police believe that whoever put out a contract for the Dalpress director was trying to cover his tracks by killing the two suspected hit men. Two unidentified gunmen wounded Maya Shchyokina and her bodyguard as they were stepping out of an elevator in her apartment building on December 6. Witnesses of the crime identified the two men as the attackers, when shown their photographs. The alleged hit men were career soldiers. Novosti reported that they had taken part in the ongoing hostilities in Chechnya. The apartment, in which they were found, contained a large amount of U. S. dollars, police said. But they didn't specify if the money was the men's service pay or if it might be payment for the hit. Police found the bodies, responding to a call from a girlfriend of one of the men. According to her account, the woman, who owns the apartment in question, left her boyfriend in the apartment to visit her friend. When she returned, she discovered the crime.
