Opinion Centennials offer 100s of reasons to celebrate

October was obviously a very fruitful month 100 years ago in Vladivostok: A lot of new ventures started in our city that time. That’s why we celebrated so many centennials recently. People honored the 100th anniversary of the commercial port, the Trans-Siberian Railroad, Dalzavod, the Pacific Fleet Hospital, and the monument to the explorer Gennady Nevelskoi. These holidays don’t mark something momentous, like Great October Socialist revolution. But at least some people were cheerful those days, and felt some pride in the past.
