Officials warned that Ussurisk, where a man was found with 57 fake notes in the end of November, is particularly rife with counterfeits. An investigation to track down their origin is under way. Bomb explodes in apartmentAt 7:12 a.m. on Dec. 3, an explosion occurred inside an apartment building on Lenina St. in Dalnerechensk. No injuries were reported. The explosive device was left on the ground floor, and doors of three apartments nearby were bent and singed. The explosion also damaged the apartment staircase. The head of the Dalnerechensk guard unit, part of the local Internal Affairs Department, lives in one of the ground floor’s apartments, but investigators are unsure if the explosion was aimed at him. Businessman arrested for sword possessionOfficers of the krai’s Organized Crime Prevention Unit arrested well-known Vladivostok businessman Vladimir Petrakov recently. Police allege that a samurai sword found in Petrakov’s apartment led to the arrest because according to local criminal codes, any sword can be treated as a side-arm, and permission must be obtained for purchasing, selling, and possessing it. Petrakov said that a friend gave him the sword as a gift for his birthday.
