Drunken woman ignites mother in Artyom


A drunken young woman in Artyom allegedly poured solvent on her 57-year-old mother and set her on fire with a match March 28, the Primorsky Krai Internal Affairs department press service reported. The mother survived and is now at the Artyom city hospital. According to the press service, the daughter became upset after her mother scolded her for lewd behavior. A criminal case has been filed, authorities reported.

Police find ammunition in Ussurisky County pond


Police found ammunition in a pond near the Utyosnoye village in Ussurisky County March 28, the Krai Civil Defense and Emergencies Department told the daily Vladivostok. A fisherman spotted two 100-millimiter artillery shells sticking out of the water a few meters away from the bank. Bomb experts from the Ministry of Emergencies blew up the shells the next morning, officials said.

Thieves ring doorbell, rob wife while husband’s out


Three thieves broke into an Artyom apartment recently while the owner was walking his dog, police reported. Hearing the bell and assuming it was her husband, the owner’s wife opened the door and let the burglars in. The criminals took 20,000 rubles ($3,300). An investigation is underway, police said.
