Far Eastern envoy to attend Peruvian inauguration

The Vladivostok News

Presidential Envoy in the Russian Far East Kamil Iskhakov has left for the Peruvian city of Lima to head Russian delegation at Friday’s inauguration ceremony of Peruvian President-elect Alan Garcia, a statement from the envoy’s office reported.

Iskhakov will deliver the message of congratulations from Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to Garcia, who takes office replacing acting Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo.

Iskhakov, who left Russia on Wednesday, will stay in Peru for a two-day visit, the statement said. During his stay, the envoy will meet both the acting and the incoming presidents.

Garcia, 57, won Peru’s presidential election on June 4 succeeding 60-year old Toledo, who became president of Peru five years ago.
