On Wednesday Khabarovsk Governor Viktor Ishayev met the president of Exxon Neftegaz Limited, Steve Terni, to discuss gas supplies to the Khabarovsky region under the Sakhalin-1 project, construction of the oil terminal in the settlement of De-Kastri and a possible gas pipeline to China.

Up to 7,000 people are expected to participate in the fourth annual international biker festival ‘Facing the Ocean’, which starts August 11 in the Peschanaya Bay in southern Primorye, a press statement from the festival organizing committee reported.

Thirteen Chinese tourists were injured in a road incident on the highway Pogranichny - Ussurisk Wednesday evening when rear tires of the bus with 30 tourists on board blew out and the vehicle overturned into a roadside ditch, Primorye’s traffic police reported.

Crime watch S. Korean drug importer detained in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

A South Korean citizen was arrested on July 29 by Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk police in a failed attempt to flee back to Seoul despite being detained and charged five days prior in connection with illegal import of medical equipment and drugs, customs officials reported on Wednesday.

The military court of Primorye’s city of Nakhodka has sentenced a young conscript who deserted a military unit in western Russia and spent several months traveling a distance of about 10,000 kilometers to his home city to 1.5-years imprisonment. The soldier claimed he escaped from the unit due to hazing.

Want to travel in Primorye? Hands up with passport and border pass. Federal Security Service chief Nikolai Patrushev this April issued a directive regulating border zones in the Primorsky Krai as most regional territories are considered border areas for which border passes and identification documents are now required to enter.

Parts of a torn access door got caught in the engine causing the crash of the plane Be-103 near the city of Khabarovsk on July 27, prosecutors said. Two pilots and a passenger catapulted from the aircraft and suffered minor injuries which can be considered a major luck if compared to two pilots of a Navy Su-24 jet who were killed Sunday when the jet crashed on its way to participate in a Navy parade.

Business Transneft finalizes oil terminal

Kozmino Bay near Primorye’s city of Nakhodka is approved as the final terminal of the Pacific oil pipeline, president of the pipeline monopoly Transneft Semyon Vainshtok told a press conference in Irkutsk July 28 voicing a decision which had been persistently backed by ecologists.

Russian officers from Marine Special Forces make a presentation of militaristic skills as part of celebrations of Navy Day on Sunday. The celebrations started with laying wreaths to monuments of war glory in downtown Vladivostok and then continued with a show of historical development of Vladivostok as a port and marine far post in the very east of Russia.

During celebrations of Navy Day in the city of Baltiisk in the Kaliningrad region Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov announced the fleet’s combat preparedness a national priority and an integral part of national defense.
