Preceding celebrations of professional day of railway workers in Russia on August 6, thirty empty oil tanker cars derailed near the station of Lazo, eight kilometers off the city of Dalnerechensk in Primorye halting traffic along the TransSiberian Railway for more than 10 hours. Luckily, no casualties occurred.

The derailed cars decimated 50 meters of rail and impaired one power line support paralyzing traffic both ways, a press service for the Far Eastern railways said.

Fifteen cargo trains and seven passenger cars with some 3,500 people were reported to have gotten stuck near the site. Travellers were soon taken from trains and sent to their destinations by buses.

More than 500 railway workers and four technical assistance trains were engaged in repairs which were completed by Sunday night wholly resuming trafic along the Trans Siberian railway.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Far Eastern Department of Russian Railways headed by Mikhail Zaichenko.
