Seamen rescue Ukrainian adventurer

The Vladivostok News

A Ukrainian man was rescued from a rubber boat 47 miles off Primorye’s coast on late Thursday by crew of a Russian steam ship Viktoria, Vladivostok rescuer service said.

“The man was signaling distress when the crew of the passing-by ship Viktoria noticed him,” the service’s spokesman reported.

The rescued man turned out to be Konstantin Miroshnichenko, a native of the Ukraine. He was taken onboard with his rubber boat. Miroshnichenko’s condition is satisfactory.

The ship Viktoria is heading to Vladivostok where the man would answer border guards and rescuers’ questions about the purpose and final point of his boat voyage.
