Two teenage girls jump to death in Blagoveshchensk

The Vladivostok News

A horrible suicide shocked the residents of Blagoveshchensk in the Amur region on Wednesday when two teenagers –cousins Margarita Odintsova and Yelena Panina– committed suicide by jumping down the balcony on the 12th floor of a residential building.

The bodies of a 14-year-old Odintsova and 16-year-old Panina were found in the yard by the residents at about 3 p.m. local time, a statement from Amur police said on www.prokamur.ru. The girls’ hands were tied.

The girls left half-empty bottle of champagne, two schoolbags and a suicide note after them. The note said about loneliness, heroic suicide and warriors of decadence.

On Wednesday morning the girls attended their schools, then went to the store to buy a bottle of champagne. They told no one of their suicide plans, the statement said.

Valentin Bursyanin, aide to Amur regional prosecutor, revealed that investigators inspected the place of the suicide and ruled that no one pushed the girls to jump down– they committed suicide on their own will. Police are currently investigating the girls’ motivation to commit a fatal jump.
