Pallada sails off for another cruise

The Vladivostok News

Vladivostok’s sailing ship Pallada left for its last international cruise this year carrying 110 cadets who will master their sailing skills during the trip to China’s Shanghai and Dalian, and S. Korea’s Pusan, a press statement from Far Eastern Technical Fishing University reported Tuesday.

The 50-day trip is aimed at helping cadets obtain practical knowledge, as well as to improve their Chinese language skills, the statement said.

Over the last 17 years the vessel has performed a total of over 100 trips. Each year Pallada performs at least four cruises to the Pacific Rim countries such as Japan, China, S. Korea, Vietnam, Singapore and Australia.

Pallada, which was constructed in Poland’s port of Gdansk, has repeatedly participated in large international maritime festivals taking prizes at various regattas and was the winner of a sailing ship race. The vessel has been visited by noted actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan.
