Social life Disabled but not discouraged

After losing his sight and becoming partially paralyzed ten years ago, Andrei Fetisov, Master of Sports in weight lifting from the small town of Vrangel in southern Primorye, did not lose heart and fought to get on his feet. Moreover, he won a number of prizes at local and national sports competitions and is training for the international competitions in Brazil next year.

Vladivostok by Braille Facing the Russian cold

Just before the real winter starts kicking in, me and a friend of mine decided it would be nice to pay a visit to the Russian island which is known to be the most popular place for Vladivostok residents to relax. However, they love to go there in summer while we decided to do it in December.

Police inspectors of the Polyarny airport in the town of Udachny, Yakutia, on Tuesday detained a woman who tried to smuggle in rough diamonds by hiding them inside of a fish which she carried in her baggage.

A tigress roaming in the Krasnoarmeysky County area in northern Primorye seems to be attacking passing cars in revenge for a cub which was killed by a vehicle, environmentalists said.

French violinist Nicolas Dautricourt, winner of several international music awards, will give a performance for Vladivostok residents and guests on December 9. Dautricourt will play classical compositions together with the Khabarovsk’s Symphony Orchestra lead by another French citizen, conductor Emmanuel Leducq-Barome.

Crime watch Man bears fine for bare photos

A Sakhalin resident was recently ordered by the court to pay a $380 fine for posting intimate photos of his ex-wife on telegraph poles and shop doors as part of a vendetta against the former spouse.
