Man bears fine for bare photos

The Vladivostok News

A Sakhalin resident was recently ordered by the court to pay a $380 fine for posting intimate photos of his ex-wife on telegraph poles and shop doors as part of a vendetta against the former spouse.

The man from Tymovsky County, named only as Oleg in the press statement released by Sakhalin prosecutor’s office, made numerous Xerox copies of his ex-wife’s revealing pictures and posted them in local public places such as store fronts and bus stops.

The man told the investigators that his actions were driven by a personal dislike for his ex-wife. The court found him guilty of slander and violation of privacy and ruled that the man pay a fine of 10,000 rubles ($381), the statement reported December 1.

The man’s actions only drew the condemnation of local residents, the statement said.

The verdict was announced by Tymovsky County’s Justice of the Peace in a closed sitting of the court.
