Fire guts furniture store

A two-story furniture store was completely destroyed in Vladivostok in a massive fire which broke out late Wednesday and kept raging all night.

The furniture store Megapolis, located on the Borodinskaya Street in the residential district of Vtoraya Rechka, caught fire at about 11 p.m. The fire brigades arrived to the site within three minutes and managed to prevent the fire from spreading into neighboring buildings. However, the shop’s premises were totally destroyed by the blaze.

A total of over 70 firemen and 20 fire engines were involved in extinguishing the fire, which was finally put down by morning, the regional Department of Fire Safety and Emergency Situations said. No people were injured in the incident, the report said.

Currently, the investigators are determining the cause of the fire and estimating the overall damages when the 2,500 square meters of the shop’s premises were completely burned.
