Conscript survives stray bullet to head

The Vladivostok News

A conscript serving in one of the Khabarovsk region detachments, who was hit in the head by a stray bullet on Tuesday, remains in the hospital in stable condition, military prosecutors revealed.

The bullet was accidentally discharged when an officer on duty was checking the rifle for a regular watch, the prosecutors said. The stray bullet entered and exited the conscript’s head, leaving him alive. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was provided with urgent medical attention. The conscript’s life is currently not in danger, the prosecutors reported.

The investigation into the incident has been launched. The officer is facing a charge of “breech of rules in arms operation resulting in injury,” prosecutors said.
