Murders on rise in Vladivostok

The Vladivostok News

Director of the construction company Farkon Pyotr Pervukhin and his wife were found dead with signs of violence on Tuesday in Vladivostok in their Penthouse apartment at the Corona hotel which they owned.

Police said Pervukhin, 47, and his wife, Olga, 35, were severely beaten to death in their apartment on Verkheportovaya Street in Vladivostok on Monday. The investigators are currently inspecting the crime scene and determining which people may be connected to the murder. They say the murder may be linked to the professional activities of Pervukhin. Another version which is being considered is a break-in robbery.

Just the day before, on Sunday, another killing took place on Verkhneportovaya Street when a trustee of the Primorye Azeri community’s public organization Ilgar Mamedov was shot dead in what is considered to be a contract hit.

Mamedov, 48, was shot dead at the ‘Kazansky Most’ car-wash while his BMW was being serviced. Two unidentified people rushed into the garage, and one of them fired two shots at Mamedov, with the second shot striking him in the head. The murderer and his companion fled the scene.

The killer, an Azeri man according to the murder witnesses, did not harm any of the other car-wash visitors.

Primorye’s Prosecutor office has launched a criminal case. Along with the possibility of a contract hit the investigators are considering versions of the murder which may be connected with settling scores within the community, or to the victim’s commercial activity. Mamedov was not reported to belong to any of the criminal groups, they said.
