Green water triumph

The Vladivostok News

Primorye’s provider of central heating to residential apartments Primteploenergo has recently announced it will run green-colored water in the heating pipes in an effort to stop residents in several regional counties from using heating water for inappropriate purposes.

The measure will be implemented by communal services in Spassky, Chernigovsky and Khankainsky counties where many houses do not have hot running water in the taps. The inventive residents install taps into their heating batteries and use hot water for everyday purposes.

The organic dye of green color will be added to the heating water to make it inappropriate for using for laundry or washing. The organic dye is health safe, specialists said.

According to Primteploenergo officials, the measure resulted from considerable losses suffered by the company due to such uncontrolled use of the water. According to Vice Director Alexander Patrin, last year the losses from such usage amounted to 9.5 million rubles ($358,500).

Vladivostok and the towns of Artyom and Partizansk will not receive green water in their batteries as no cases of improper usage of heating water were registered in these cities.

The communal services intend to start dying the water in the three counties in mid February.

The solution to the problem seems genius and very cheap – instead of constructing a number of boiling houses near the residential buildings which suffer constant absence of hot water, all the officials need to do is to buy a sufficient volume of green dye. Will they deserve applause from the residents and their children who daily need hot water in the taps but will have it green in the batteries?
