Russian Prime Minister visits Japan, expected in Vladivostok

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov arrived in Japan for a two-day visit on Tuesday to meet with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe and discuss the possible expansion of trade between the two countries. On Wednesday Fradkov is expected to arrive in Vladivostok to hold talks about the development of the Russian Far East.

In Japan Fradkov will participate in a trade and investment forum to be held in Tokyo.

Fradkov is expected to sign several intergovernmental and commercial agreements in Tokyo involving Russian- Japanese cooperation in trade and investments, as well as a memorandum on the cooperation between customs officials of the two countries. Several other agreements are planned to be signed.

Primorye Governor Sergei Darkin joined Fradkov’s delegation in Japan, a press statement from his office reported. It is expected that Fradkov will visit Vladivostok after he completes his visit in Japan. He will hold a number of meetings to discuss perspectives for the development of the Russian Far East.
