9 Primorye counties hold elections

Primorye’s residents on Sunday are to vote for local Duma deputies in nine of the region’s while in the towns of Bolshoy Kamen and Arseniev the citizens will also have to elect the mayors, officials said.

Primorye’s elections are part of the nation-wide elections, with Russia’s residents picking up members for local Dumas in over 70 of the country’s regions, a press statement from the regional prosecutor’s Office reported.

Groups consisting of Prosecutor’s Office officers, police officers and members of local election committees are working at the polling stations to exclude possible violations, the statement said.

So far, no reports of serious abuse of the elections in the voting counties have been registered.
