Truck hits two school girls

The Vladivostok News

Nakhodka’s police have started an inspection into an accident in which a truck rammed into a group of schoolchildren injuring two girls, a press statement from the city’s Inner Affairs Department reported Wednesday.

The accident occurred when the schoolchildren, accompanied by their teacher, were crossing the road going to a local museum in the Pacific port city of Nakhodka. The truck did not stop at the crossroads and rammed into the group of children. Two girls, a nine and a ten-year-old, incurred injuries and were taken to the hospital.

One of the injured girls remains in the hospital suffering a concussion, the other is receiving out-patient treatment, the statement said.

The accident may have been caused by the inexperience of the truck driver, who had arrived to Nakhodka from Partizansky County where the traffic is not so intense, the statement said.

Depending on the investigation the city’s Prosecutor’s Office will consider launching a criminal case against the driver.
