The Amur’s Prosecutor Office has launched another three criminal cases against the regional Governor Leonid Korotkov adding them to the first case initiated for the governor’s abuse of power when Korotkov authorized an increase of the energy tariffs to support a local football team.

Environment Kamchatka deputies target poaching boats

Seventeen poachers’ vessels detained by Kamchatka’s border guards are currently remain under seizure in the Avachinsky Bay of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky creating a headache for local officials who are forced to take care of them until the court decision on each case is made.

Environment Far Eastern leopards remain on brink

A recent census of the Far Eastern leopard revealed that only some 34 of the cats are left in the wild in the territory of Primorye and adjoining China showing that the rarest wild cat remains on the verge of extinction, environmentalists from the Vladivostok-based Far Eastern branch of WWF Russia announced on Wednesday voicing the census results.

A deep-freeze warehouse with a capacity to ice and store up to 3,500 tons of fish and seafood will be constructed in the town of Nakhodka by several of Nakhodka’s fishing companies together with Japanese company Hiro Kikaku making it the first mutual project of the kind in the Russian Far Eastern fishing industry.

The Russian Railroads Company intends to purchase more stock shares in Russian ports including the Pacific ports of Vladivostok and Nakhodka, to smooth the coordination of railways and ports, CEO Vladimir Yakunin said at a conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
