Collision halts railway traffic

The Vladivostok News

A freight train bumped into a truck on the Trans Siberian Railway in the Primorye region on Monday halting railway traffic for almost two hours.

The incident occurred in the settlement of Razdolnoye at the railroad crossing at 10:40 a.m. local time, when the truck driver ignored the crossing’s warning signal and drove out onto the railway line trying to cross it in front of the approaching train.

The truck’s driver and the assistant train engineer received multiple injuries and were taken to the hospital, a press statement from Vladivostok’s branch of the Far Eastern railways reported.

Normally scheduled traffic on the railway resumed in two hours. The transportation commission is currently estimating the damages.
