Arts and Ideas Museums to hold night of expositions

Six Vladivostok museums and galleries will feature their exhibitions for city residents and guests in a ‘Night of Museums’, as a part of the annual international project to celebrate International Museum Day. The event will begin Saturday evening and finish in the early hours of Sunday.

Officials in the town of Birobidzhan in the Jewish Autonomous region have recently introduced a new means to fight careless citizens who fail to place their garbage bags into the appointed containers thus littering the town’s territories – they capture photos of the cleanliness violators.

Environment Timber cutting destroys taiga

The toppled remains of illegally cut trees line the road to the area devastated by loggers near the northern Primorye town of Vostok in early May.Timber carrying trucks are a common sight in Krasnoarmeisky County, northern Primorye. Loaded trucks travel from the northern part of the county, carrying linden and cedar timber cut in the dense and rich woodland, restricted for forest exploitation.

Yevgeny Shibanov awaits sentencing in the defendant’s cage in the Primorsky regional court on Monday.Primorye’s regional court on Monday pronounced a 17-year imprisonment sentence to a policeman who murdered a woman after failing to register her apartment robbery case and fearing she might file a complaint against him.
