Vladivostok beaches flooded with violations

The Vladivostok News

Only four of Vladivostok’s recreational beaches are suitably prepared for the summer swimming season, a recent inspection revealed.

The inspection was performed by representatives from the city administration, the federal consumer inspectorate and the regional department for emergency situations, Vladivostok’s administration officials said.

The commission inspected a total of 21 recreational areas checking the territories and testing the water.

The only four zones to meet the required sanitary conditions are two recreational areas on the city’s Naberezhnaya street downtown, the area around Lazurnaya bay and a beach in the Chaika district.

Among the most common violations are the lack of proper public facilities and the absence of first aid stations and rescue equipment.

The commission representatives filed a total of seventeen documents listing the various violations. According to the acting head of the city’s administration Yuri Koren, the companies, which lease the beach areas from the city, are to correct all violations or lose the rights to the land.
