Australian frigate visits Vladivostok

The Royal Australian Navy frigate Parramatta has cast anchor in the Pacific port of Vladivostok on Thursday with a friendly visit, Russian Pacific fleet officials reported.

Australian naval officers will meet with their Russian colleagues from the host ship Marshal Shaposhnikov and will lay wreaths to Vladivostok Memorial of the Pacific Fleet Glory. The guests will also meet with the city’s administration officials.

On Friday Australian sailors will visit one of Russian schools to arrange visit of schoolchildren on board the frigate. HMAS Parramatta is the fifth of eight ANZAC class frigates built for the Royal Australian Navy by Tenix Marine Systems, Williamstown, Victoria.

The visit of HMAS Parramatta is the third visit of Australian warships in Vladivostok in the history of naval cooperation between the two couintries, the Pacific Fleet press service reported.
