Ship wrecks in Okhotsk Sea, 2 sailors found dead

The bodies of two sailors from a wrecked ship Kvarts have been found in the Sea of Okhotsk on Wednesday, the rescue operation for another three crewmembers continues, Sakhalin emergency officials reported.

The ship Kvarts, carrying two 40-foot containers with seafood from the port of Okhotsk in Sakhalin to the port of Vanino in Khabarovsk, sent a distress signal on Tuesday.

The ship belonged to a Khabarovsk-based company Inskoye and had five crewmembers on board.

Sakhalin rescuers flew to the wreckage place and spotted two empty lifeboats from helicopters. The rescue service ship Agat arrived to the place on Wednesday morning and the bodies of two sailors from the wrecked ship were found. The search for another three sailors continues.
