Business Fishing quotas to dissolve

Starting next year Russia plans to stop handing over quotas for commercial fishing, though about 50 types of most valuable fishes will not leave the list of limitations, Andrei Krainy, head of the fisheries regulator agency, announced in Khabarovsk on Tuesday.

An exhibition ‘Putin - A Portrait of President’ opened Wednesday on Sakhalin to mark the 55th birthday anniversary of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile Vladivostok gets ready to release a play called Putin’s Holiday devoted to serve the same goal.

Opinion China positions no threat for Russia

Chinese workers infiltrating the territory of Sportivnaya Gavan in downtown Vladivostok in summer for a thorough cleanup.Some 10-15 years ago when the border with China was opened and the influx of traders from both sides – Russian and Chinese- increased tremendously, Russians looked down on their neighbors who were showing minimum of education and culture and wearing simple military clothes. Naval officers and sailors from Admiral Panteleyev anti-submarine ship greeting residents of Preobrazhenye town where the ship arrived with a friendly visit early October. The ship crew maintains friendly relations with Preobrazhenye Base of Trawling Fleet whose workers welcomed the guests with flowers, presents and an extended program including concerts and sport competitions. The ship was open for excursions and local children took special interest in touring the vessel numerous times.

Crime watch Crab mafia incurs losses

Investigators have launched a huge crackdown on crab poaching in the Russian Far East and seized documents from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky fishing port and Kamchatsky Center of Fishing Monitoring in connection with arrests of three businessmen in late September who are facing charges of illegal crab exports from Russia to the United States.
