A girl feeding and stroking camels at a petting zoo in Sadgorod, a suburb of Vladivostok, where more than 130 animals reside in a home-like atmosphere. Foxes, camels, snakes, raccoons, lynx, rabbits, monkeys and even ostriches were brought to the zoo by its director Sergei Asnovin. A former engineer for refrigerator ships, Asnovin left the sea to breed animals on land. He created the little farm and now organizes events for children in the towns and villages of Primorye.

“I love Russia as I love my homeland, S. Korea. Russia for me is home,” shared Bek Guen Seok, a S. Korean Christian missionary woman who arrived in Russia in the late 90s, started a Presbyterian church for the deaf in Vladivostok, was admitted to Russian citizenship and married a Russian man.

Crime watch Mayor to stand trial in custody

Vladivostok Mayor Vladimir Nikolayev is being escorted into the building of the Leninsky court on Wednesday to stand trial on charges of abuse of office. Despite the fact that hearings were declared open to the press, Nikolayev was driven to the back entrance of the building to escape reporters and cameras.Vladivostok’s Leninsky court on Wednesday announced that the city’s Mayor Vladimir Nikolayev, who is facing trial on charges of abuse of office, will remain in custody for the duration of the trial to prevent him from escaping prosecution or pressuring witnesses.

Residents of several buildings in the Primorye town of Nakhodka have recently been unpleasantly surprised to find greenish water running from their cold water taps. The explanation was simple – the green-colored water from central-heating radiators got into the drinking water pipes.
