Traffic jam on rails near Nakhodka

The Vladivostok News

Some 20 wagons of oil are standing idle on the rails near the port town of Nakhodka due to an absence of tankers into which the fuel can be unloaded, railway officials reported Wednesday.

The wagons with oil products are the property of NakhodkaNefteprodukt Company, which has failed to organize the on-time arrival of tankers, deputy head of the Vladivostok department of the Far Eastern branch of Russian railways Yevgeny Andriyanov said.

According to Andriyanov, there are currently more than 1,500 loaded cisterns on the rails near the oil base and on the rails approaching Krabovaya railway station waiting for the tankers to arrive. The situation is aggravated by the fact that NakhodkaNefteprodukt Company does not have reservoirs to store some of its oil.

The traffic jam negatively affects economic activities not only near the Krabovaya station but also in the whole Vladivostok railway department. The oil-filled wagons block the way for passing trains, creating traffic jams on the Far Eastern railways, Andriyanov said.
