International hotels to check into Vladivostok

The Vladivostok News

Accor Group, a large French multinational corporation, whose main business is running chains of hotels and restaurants and Marriott International, a worldwide operator of luxury hotels, have expressed interest in constructing hotels in Vladivostok, a press statement from the city’s administration revealed on Thursday.

The two corporations signed with Vladivostok administration letters of intentions to construct two four-star hotels as well as a hotel complex, the statement said. The hotels are planned to be built in the central part of the city.

The necessity to extend hotel infrastructure in Vladivostok is a result of the increasing tourist inflow, said Nikolai Matviyenko, head of the city’s committee in charge of investment, according to the statement. International events like film festivals, exhibitions, forums and conferences require facilities for hosting the city’s guests, he stressed.

“The construction of hotels by such world-known companies will not only boost the hotel business in the Primorye region but also attract even more European tourists to the area which is crucially important for the economic development of our region,” Matviyenko said.

The APEC summit planned to be held in Vladivostok in 2012 will undoubtedly require considerable extension and renovation of the existing hospitality infrastructure. Currently in Vladivostok, only Hyundai hotel provides exceptional service and hosts most of Vladivostok’s international visitors.
