Sakhalin policeman gunned down in office

On Sunday night in the city of Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky in Sakhalin region a senior police investigator was hit with a bullet to the chest through a window while he was sitting in his office situated on the fourth floor, police said.

An unknown gunman fired at Yevgeny Fyodorov, 26, who was in his workplace in the city prosecutor’s office building, the bullet coming through the window, the press statement from Sakhalin prosecutors’ office said. Fyodorov, seriously injured in the chest, managed to descend to the first floor of the building to ask for help. He was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery. Fyodorov is currently in the intensive care ward with his condition being reported as grave.

The prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into the case of an attempt of premeditated murder which may be related to Fyodorov’s work in police. The investigators are currently inspecting all multi-storied buildings located near the scene of the crime in order to determine the location from which the killer targeted the policeman.
