Fired man takes revenge on tires

The Vladivostok News

On February 4, security guards at a bus depot in Primorye’s city of Nakhodka detained a man who slashed the tires of 23 passenger buses in a vindictive act against the transport company that had fired him.

The man, whose name and age are not specified, was spotted with a knife in his hands by guards during a morning inspection, half an hour before the buses’ scheduled departure time to their city routes, a statement from the city administration said. The culprit did not show any resistance while being detained, the statement reported.

The man’s actions disabled a quarter of the buses and nearly crippled Nakhodka’s public transportation system. Luckily, the incident remained unnoticed by passengers due to the prompt usage of spare tires and reserve buses.

The culprit claimed that that he had worked for the city’s transport company but was fired, which led to his vengeful actions.

The police are currently conducting an inspection into the incident, and are considering launching a criminal case, the statement said.
