Vladivostok Duma deputies on Thursday ruled that the city’s residents will elect their new mayor on May 18, more than a year after the former mayor Vladimir Nikolayev was arrested on charges of embezzlement and abuse of power.

Construction of a terminal in a village of Kozmino, a final point for the Siberian oil pipeline starting in Taishet, will start in March, Transneft president Nikolai Tokarev announced in Vladivostok on Wednesday.

Two US citizens and a British citizen who traveled to Khasansky County in southern Primorye to gaze at the Russian- N. Korean border were detained by Russian border guards and escorted out of the territory after they failed to present the required documents.

Special reports N. Korea to free Russian ship

Border authorities in the N. Korean port of Kimchaek agreed on Monday to release a Russian cargo ship which was detained by N. Korean coastguards in the Sea of Japan February 23 on accusations of trespassing the country’s border.
