Business Sakhalin, S. Korea unveil joint venture

A joint Russian-South Korean venture was presented in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Friday by Russia’s Teplomontazhservis and Korean Gas Technology Corporation KOGAS-Tech to provide safe operation of facilities within Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 oil and gas projects, a press statement from the region’s administration said.

Business Primorye grows aquaculture

On March 7 Vladivostok prosecutors ruled that former Vladivostok Mayor Vladimir Nikolayev must pay 13 million rubles ($541,667) in damages to the city’s budget after the court found him guilty of abuse of power. On the same day, the race for the city’s highest position was announced open.

Anglers fishing through ice holes in the Amur Bay in Vladivostok on Sunday despite the thin ice warning. In a customary rescue operation occurring annually during spring ice melting, Sakhalin emergency services rescued 755 anglers stranded on a drifting ice sheet in the Bay of Mordvinova on Sunday.
