French photographer presents her art in Vladivostok

The exhibition of a French photographer Annie Assouline, ‘Mains d’ecrivains’ or ‘Hands of writers’ opened in Vladivostok on Monday in the ‘Arch’ Gallery.

Assouline’s black and white photos are presented at the exhibition which is part of the French culture program initiated in Vladivostok by a newly-opened organization Alliance Francaise.

The exhibition features 122 photographs of hands and portraits of famous writers, among them are theorist Jean Baudrillard, anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss, Paul Bowles, Françoise Sagan, German philosopher and sociologist Jürgen Habermas, philosopher Emmanuel Lévinas and many others.

The exhibition will be available for Vladivostok residents until April 21 and then it will be moved to Irkutsk where Annie Assouline is expected to arrive and open her exposition.

Annie Assouline was born in 1956 in Algeria. She started her career as a photographer in 1984. In 1997 she participated in the creation of the magazine Marianne with which she continues to collaborate until the present. She also works for the agency Opale which specializes in the creation of professional portraits of writers.
