Police grab stowaway from bathroom

The Vladivostok News

On April 11, transport police and aviation inspectorate officers in the Far Eastern town of Yakutsk detained a man who illegally boarded the plane destined to Vladivostok and hid in the aircraft’s bathroom, a statement from transportation police said.

The investigation showed that the man, whose name is not revealed, entered the plane after he paid 2,000 rubles ($83) to an employee in the Tuimaada airport. The latter led him to the boarding area through personnel rooms to avoid check-in and inspection, and provided him with an invalid boarding pass.

The man, who boarded the Tu-154 plane unhampered, was detained before the plane took off, the statement said.

A criminal case against the airport employee has been launched, while an administrative case has been started against the stowaway.
