Man triumphs in nursing competition

The Vladivostok News

On April 18 in the city of Yakutsk, a man swept to victory in a contest for operating room nurses, a profession dominated by females.

Pyotr Nikiforov was the only male participant in the contest which was dedicated to celebrating the 25th jubilee of the surgical department of Yakutia’s regional hospital No.2.

The contest included professional and creative challenges, a statement from the region’s center of emergency medicine reported.

The participants answered theoretical questions and showed off their professional skills including the preparation of surgical equipment and the operating room. They also demonstrated their creative abilities by putting their culinary talents on display, the statement said.

Nikiforov led both parts of the contests and the jury awarded him first prize, thus proclaiming him the best operating room nurse in Yakutia.
