Vladivostok stadium allowed to host home games

The Vladivostok News

On Tuesday, experts from Russia’s Football Premier League announced Vladivostok’s Dinamo football stadium fit to host the upcoming match between the city’s Luch-Energiya and Moscow’s CSKA on Saturday. The decision was made a day after the league’s management decided to apply to Russia’s Football Association to ban matches on Vladivostok’s field due to its unsatisfactory condition.

“Considering the results of the second examination of the Dinamo playing field held by the League’s specialists, the management decided not to prohibit the stadium from holding the next home matches of Russia’s Football Championship,” a statement from the League reported Tuesday.

The stadium and the field are currently being prepared for the Saturday’s match.

Previously, Vitaly Mutko, President of Russia’s Football Association, voiced his surprise that the Luch football club which has a budget varying from $12 million to $18 million, cannot allocate 300,000-400,000 rubles to maintain a high-quality playing field.

Vladivostok’s Luch-Energiya made it to Russia’s Premier League from the first division in 2005. Last year, the team disappointedly came in 17th place in Russia’s Premier League, which resulted in the dismissal of the club’s coach Sergei Pavlov. Since December 2007 Luch has been led by Croatian coach Zoran Vulić. The team currently sits in 14th place in the League standings after a series of defeats, the latest coming on Sunday against Grozny’s Terek.
