3 boys missing in Khabarovsk region

The Vladivostok News

Rescue crews and police continue searching for three children who went missing in the Khabarovsk region on April 29, but as of Sunday the search operation has not brought any results, a statement from the regional police reported.

Three boys, aged 8, 9 and 13 years old, left their homes in the settlement of Yagodnoye and never returned. The parents started a search which produced no results and then appealed to the police and the Department for Emergency Situations for assistance in locating their children.

The search effort has been aided by support from the settlement’s administration and residents, who have combed the settlement’s outskirts. Rescuers from the town of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, along with divers, have explored all local bodies of water and the Amur River bank near the village, the statement said.

The rescuer teams have also searched the neighboring village of Tsimmermanovka, where the local cafй workers happened to see the boys having dinner and later recognized them from photos distributed by the police.

According to a resident of Tsimmermanovka, boys resembling the missing were supposedly seen on the road leading to the village of De-Kastri. Currently, the police and rescuers have spread out through the village, with police patrols placed at the nearby road to inspect the cars and to question the people.

The search is also being conducted in the forest area, the statement reported.
