Blast kills two in Khabarovsk

Two men were killed in an explosion in a residential house in the Far Eastern city of Khabarovsk on Wednesday.

The blast occurred in an apartment situated on the ninth floor in a nine-storey residential building on Karl Marx Street at about 7 p.m. local time. Two men, aged 33 and 29, were killed on the spot, a statement from Khabarovsk region’s Inner Affair Department said.

According to the statement, a hand fragmentation grenade detonated in the apartment and police are currently investigating the details of the tragic incident. The two killed men were supposedly the flat’s owner and his acquaintance. Police are trying to determine how the explosive got into the apartment.

No other casualties are reported.
