Today the frontier patrol vessel “Shkiper Gek” of the Federal Security Council Frontier administration of the Primorsky region and the frontier patrol vessel “Korsakov” are reported to head for the South Korean Jeju Island. The business call is planned to last from the 29th of September to the 2nd of October.

Sometimes in our editorial office are sent touching letters that can make you want find the author and arrange a meeting with him to know more about his life. One of such letters was from Klavdia Basha who devoted 44 years of her life to working in the emergency station in Vladivostok. She also added that this year is the 85th anniversary of this station.

The highest television tower in the world may be erected in Vladivostok as an object of APEC-2012 summit. The probable places of the tower are Orlinaya hill or the Russkiy Island. According to the Primorsky regional broadcasting house, the project of the building is already worked out.

According to the autonews.ru, Vladivostok is proven to be the most automobile city in Russia after the 170 cities with the population over 100 000 were examined. In the beginning of 2008 the automobile park of the country numbered more than 30 000 000 motor cars.

According to the association of the Primorsky builders, the culture expert and journalist Artemiy Troitsky who came to Vladivostok during the film festival “Pacific Meridian”, Vladivostok needs improving the look of the streets. He says that the best way to do it is to get rid of the piles of the advertisement hoardings and bring it to the harmonious architecture of the city. He said that if there were no advertisement hoardings in the city at all, it would be perfect.

This underwater robot “Komanch”, named after a North American Indian tribe is one of the nine existing in the world. It can reach a depth of 6000 meters. In the nearest future “Komanch” will explore the depths of the Petr Velikiy bay.

In the end of last week Vladivostok had reasserted the image of an “opened city” by being the place of the 13th meeting of the governors of the regions of the maritime countries of the Japanese sea. This is the first time for Vladivostok to be the site of this summit. The traditional participants are the heads of Japanese prefecture Tottori, South Korean province Kanwon, Chinese province Jilin and the Mongolian Central area. The goal of such summits is the shaping of good neighborly relations for discussions on the urgent issues, vital for the intergovernmental communications. Each summit was devoted to one topic. This time the topic was the development of the Northeastern Asian countries’ transboundary economics.

Within the frameworks of this event the conferences, plenary meetings, exhibitions and radiotelegraphy competitions are to be held. Yesterday in the City hall was opened the most attractive and unique exhibition called “From Morse to the Internet”. The visitors can see not only communication facilities of the past and the cutting-edge Internet technologies, but also make a call from the telephone booth made in the beginning of the XX th century.
